Bionic Reading (“BR“) 是一项主要通过对于拉丁语系单词的前缀部分进行加粗以期提高阅读速度的一种方法。尽管该软件本体并未开源，但在Linux.do论坛中亦有人分享类似的开源工具 (“自己搓了个 bionic reading 命令行工具 - 开发调优”, 2025)。官网(“BR Method.”, 2021)示例：

眼动研究被广泛应用于阅读、认知等研究 (Andreou and Gkantaki, 2024)，但大多数研究都旨在分析眼动与文本特征、文本理解的相关关系；我们仍未发现证据表明对眼动的干预能够影响认知过程。Bionic Reading团队在网站介绍(“BR About.”, 2021)中指出他们参考了Just & Carpenter (1980) 及其他研究，但未见正确的引用，且在各大数据库中未能匹配到合适的文献。

2022年及2024年有两项针对 BR 的研究 (“Does Bionic Reading actually work? We timed over 2,000 readers and the results might surprise you”, 2022; Snell, 2024)分别使用了网络样本（n=1916）及大学生样本 (n=32) 进行测试，结果均不支持 BR 对比普通文本能够带来更快的阅读及理解速度。

或许网络上关于 BR 的正面评价与安慰剂效应 (“placebo effect“) 有关，但我们仍然期待有关提升阅读速度与理解效果的工作。
